Harley Davidson Performance

A Harley Davidson is not exactly a bike known for its power, at least off the show room floor. For years riders bought a Harley Davidson for the style, the comfort and the heritage that comes with owning a piece of American Iron from a company with such a storied history as Harley Davidson.

That said, most Harley Davidson owners find themselves aching for more power almost from the minute they pick up their new Harley Davidson. The first place they turn is usually to a new set of pipes, not only for the power but for that trademark Harley Davidson exhaust note. Nothing sounds better than a Harley purring away from a stoplight.

I am a self admitted pipe junkie and I have tried a number of different exhaust pipes on my 2007 FXSTB Nightrain. My bike is a little hotter than most with a 107 ci engine, cams and ported heads but nonetheless I still find myself craving more power. I recently replaced my 2 into 2 exhaust system from a very reputable pipe company and replaced it with a D&D Fat Cat 2 into 1 Harley pipe. I had read about the strong power gains that can be had with a 2 into 1 pipe and all I can say is WOW!

The fit and finish of the D&D pipe is awesome and they installed quickly and easily. I was also very pleased when I fired it up for the first time to hear the exhaust note. It was quieter than than 2 into 2 pipes I had on there before, which might put a frown on some Harley owners faces but while it was quieter, it sounded a LOT better. The D&D Fat Cat produces a nice deep rumble with a lot of bass to it and when you crack the go-stick it turns into a nice deep roar. I don’t know that I have ever heard a set of Harley pipes that sounded better.

The performance difference is noticeable. I will admit I have not dyno’d the new pipes but the “butt dyno” tells me these pipes definitely make more bottom end and mid range power, which is exactly what a 2 into 1 pipe should do. The bike is noticeably more torquey and gets away from a stop light much easier. I also can feel the difference when I roll onto the throttle, the bike leaps forward with no hint of lag or hesitation.

I realize it’s hardly scientific but being a power junkie my entire life, I can safely tell when something works and when it doesn’t. These D&D Fat Cat pipes will put a smile on your face, especially if you have a modified Harley Davidson.

Check out a set of your own D&D Fat Cat Pipes or maybe a Vance and Hines Big Shot Staggered pipe is more to your liking. We can help you find the perfect pipe for your Harley Davidson today.

Ralph takes a motorcycle out for a spin–to “open it up; see what it’ll do” — and roars it off on a series of exciting and dangerous adventures. Directed by Ron Underwood, animated by John Matthews and produced by George McQuilkin and John Matthews for Churchill Films. SUMMARY: Stuck at a rundown hotel for the weekend, young Keith finds his prized toy motorcycle missing. The unlikely thief is an adventurous and rather careless young mouse named Ralph! With Keith’s permission, Ralph takes the motorcycle out for a spin — to ‘open it up; see what it’ll do’ — and roars off on a series of exciting and dangerous adventures. Though warned to take good care of the motorcycle, Ralph loses it in the laundry basket after a narrow escapes from a hungry vacuum cleaner. Things get worse when Keith suddenly falls ill. The pressure’s on as Ralph commandeers the boy’s toy ambulance on a crazy midnight ride through the hotel in search of medicine. He encounters all the dangers his mother warned him about — a night feeding owl, an excitable dog, and a mouse-hunting cat.

The incidence of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) is statistically shown to affect about 2 million people annually in the United States. That breaks down to 175 – 200 people per 100,000. Over 1.5 million of these are non-fatal brain injuries. TBI’s can account for about 34% of the yearly deaths that are caused by accidents in America states like California and especially inland empire cites such as Riverside where speeds are faster due to less traffic, and where big rig trucks are plentiful.

Traumatic brain injury and motorcycle accidents in inland California are a fact of life to the 909 resident. Statistics show that many of these brain injuries are caused by motorcycle accidents.
Many TBI’s are not readily apparent; the victim can suffer long term physical, emotional, intellectual and social changes which are not going to be recognizable at first. Riverside medical doctors who treat patients in Corona, La Quinta, Rancho Mirage and Barstow areas, can attest to the enormous financial and emotional costs, not only to the victim but to the family as well. Many motorcycle TBI victims will need on going long term care for the rest of their life. It is estimated that there are about 63 out of every 100,000 American adults who live in assisted living communities as the result of suffering a TBI. Many of these have been caused from being in a motorcycle accident.

California implemented its helmet law in 1992. Since then there has been a 37% decrease in statewide motorcycle accidental deaths. Although beach cities like La Habra, Fullerton, Anaheim and Orange have seen about a 34% decrease in TBI’s as well, inland empire towns in San Bernardino and Riverside have accidents on expansive and uncrowded freeways at high speeds. This is true, despite the fact that California residents are now almost 100% compliant with the helmet law.

Statistics also show that wearing a helmet will reduce the risk of brain injury by nearly two times than those who do not wear a helmet. The medical care costs to those who wear helmets are reduced by nearly 3 times the amount that non-helmeted riders can sustain from motorcycle brain injury accidents.

A large percentage of those suffering from motorcycle TBI’s are young male adults who are in the prime of their life. Many of these victims do not return to work and can end up living in assisted living communities. The costs of the care can be staggering.

Traumatic brain injury and motorcycle accidents can also leave one in a vegetative state. Long-term coma may be another consequence. Loss of your social network, not only for the victim but for the family as well, high risk for depression, loss of wages, loss of the family home, loss of marital relationship, all theses and more can be the consequence of suffering a TBI due to motorcycle accident.

Victims and their families need to seek immediate legal advice of a Riverside brain injury lawyer and get counsel after suffering any type of injury in a California injury such as requiring a Riverside motorcycle accident attorney. Most of the time the rider is not at fault and can file claim for compensation. Orange County has many reputable Motorcycle Accident lawyers that can help the victim through all phases of his or her legal claim. Never hesitate in attaining good legal advice and representation.

$4.00 Per Gallon Gas Prices May Look Good, Someday.
How to Get From Here to There and Not Go Broke

Will our Nation ever reach a time when $4.00 per gallon seems reasonable? It could happen and soon according to many prognosticators on gas prices. Gas in Japan is over $8.50 per gallon today. How do you think they would feel about $4.00 per gallon?

One popular and environmentally friendly idea is to evaluate your daily travel requirements and transfer as many of your safe (limited traffic) errands riding a gas or electric powered motor scooter. At eighty to one hundred miles per gallon, you can stretch your fuel dollar by 500 using a gas motor scooter.

Electric scooters are even less expensive and more eco-friendly to operate, but you must be aware of the length of your trip. You probably want to do your four hours of recharging at home. Electric scooters have a range of fifteen to twenty miles on a charge.

Beside, riding a motor scooter can be a lot of fun. Be safe, evaluate the traffic element, staying away from highways and busy main streets, and remember the days of your youth when you always wanted to ride a scooter. The time has arrived, again. Lastly, be kind and smile at the driver in the car beside you, he’s probably suffering from gas pains.

The Save U Gas Scooter Store opened online in 2008 to encourage and advise people considering motor scooters as an inexpensive and eco- friendly solution to the high cost of today’s gasoline.

There is no absolutely universal legal view on lane splitting, because lane splitting law varies from each state to the next. Even within a single state, lane splitting law tends to be far more complex than many of the other kinds of legislation that restrict how drivers and motorcycle riders can behave. Lane splitting in California is legal in many circumstances, but not in all circumstances, so whether a biker is cited for illegal lane splitting in California has as much to do with what kind of mood a police officer is in as it does with the realities of lane splitting law. Lane splitting law is one of the greyest areas of ambiguity in modern laws that govern the safe use of vehicles, so it is little wonder then that there is a lot of confusion about lane splitting law among driver, motorcycle riders, and even among lawyers and other law professionals.

Even in states where lane splitting is legal, most motorcycle riders who are concerned with being very prudent about their safety and making sure that they are within the confines of the law avoid lane splitting at all because it is such a grey area in terms of law and in terms of safety. Lane splitting law is complex, but the most important decision that a motorcycle rider makes about lane splitting shouldnâ?™t be whether it is legal in a given situation, but rather whether it is safe. Lane splitting is often very dangerous, and even in the cleanest and clearest of circumstances lane splitting can lead to an accident if things go even slightly awry.

Although lane splitting is legal in some states like California, California bikers might find it prudent to take a cue from other states on this matter. The fact that lane splitting is technically legal in California under most circumstances does not mean that it is a safe practice. One of the most dangerous things about lane splitting is that many automobile drivers do not know how to safely interact with motorcycle riders, so lane splitting can make drivers panic and do things that are unpredictable and often cause injury or even death to motorcycle riders who were technically behaving within their legal rights. It is important to remember that legal lane splitting isnâ?™t always safe lane splitting, so although it is important to follow lane splitting law it is even more important to follow your common sense when deciding whether to lane split on your bike or not.

There is a lot of debate among the motorcycle riding community and among drivers about whether current lane splitting law is satisfactory. Some people feel that current lane splitting law is too loose and not restrictive enough about lane splitting. There are even individuals and groups calling for a national ban on lane splitting under any circumstances. However, there are also plenty of individuals and groups who believe that lane splitting can be safely practiced, and that there should be more of an effort to educate motorcycle riders and divers about how to split lanes safely without causing accidents. Whatever your personal views on lane splitting may be, it is almost certainly true that lane splitting law is one of the most complex areas of law surrounding the practices of drivers and motorcycle riders.

Triumph Motorcycle Key

Custom motorcycles have come a long way in the past several decades or so. In the Fifties and Sixties, if you wanted a chopper, you bought a stock Harley or Indian motorcycle and then proceeded to chop off anything that was deemed unnecessary. You would chop off the fenders, replace the seat, drag out the front wheel, and perhaps weld on some massive ape hanger handlebars. Custom bikes were the domain of the back yard mechanics and the rebel bikers.

As the bike culture progressed and the modern biker with a nine to five day job emerged the custom bike industry progressed. Top line designers began making customized bikes for anyone with an expendable income and the bikes began to be built and designed from the ground up in lieu of coming from stock parts. For the amateur bike builder, however there is still away to relive the glory days when choppers were built in backyards and garages. Custom motorcycle parts are readily available to anyone who dares to try to put together their own bike.

The easiest place to find custom motorcycle parts is online. There are quite a number of websites that offer everything for custom motorcycles, from complete kits to individual parts like wheels, frames, gas tanks, and engines. If you are mechanically inclined and know what you want in a bike than this is a good way to obtain all of your custom motorcycle parts.

If you do not want to shop around for individual parts, but still want to build a cool bike than getting a complete custom motorcycle kit might be a good idea. These kits provide every part needed to make a pretty cool, pre-designed bike and even come with instructions on how to put it together. It could even save you money to build a bike from a kit rather than piecing on together from separately obtained parts.

But, if you feel like putting together a bike from a box is too much akin to model airplane building model airplanes than feel free to go out there and shop around for individual parts that you can put together to make a truly unique bike. A good site that offers lots of individual parts for your custom motorcycle is Steel thunder Custom Cycles. This site offers everything from complete kits to listed parts and is willing to ship anywhere in the continental United States.

If you think computers are for nerdy types, or are paranoid of online shopping, than you could go check out a bike rally to find custom motorcycle parts. Bike Rallies are held pretty much in every state and most will have area dedicated to vendors who will be happy to hock their wares to you.

Michael Michael Motorcycle!

Your kids will enjoy “Michael Michael Motorcycle!”, a high spirited, live action dirt bike video for children ages 2-7. Join host Michael Michael as he magically transforms an ordinary family garage into a dirt bike super-shop and takes two young boys on the ride of their dreams. With exciting footage and an original soundtrack that will have children singing along, “Michael Michael Motorcycle!” is sure to be an entertaining ride for the whole family.

A recent study found that one in three consumers is paying over the odds for scooter insurance, the AA reported earlier this year. Nearly half of Brits do not bother to seek a number of quotes and one in four renew their scooter cover instantly, without using the opportunity to save hundreds of pounds.

And given that new regulations have increased the pressure on insurers to raise premiums, it might be worth taking one of our 10 steps towards lower premiums.

1. Shop around for the best deals. Insurance broker Benetts found recently that motorists can save more than £90 when renewing their policies, but they need to obtain at least seven quotes to get the best deal, although most people get only three.

2. Ensure that only regular riders are named on the policy. You can always add someone for a few days when they really need to ride the scooter.

3. Protect your no-claims bonus. This may increase the premium by a few pounds, but this fades into insignificance against the potential loss of a 60% discount on a premium of several hundred pounds. But the definition of a protected no-claims bonus can vary widely between insurers. Though accidents caused by another rider will normally have no impact on such a bonus, those caused by the insured could.

4. Increase your voluntary excess. Agreeing to pay more towards the cost of any accident repairs will bring down premiums. If you are not at fault in an accident, the excess can be recovered.

5. Agree to a mileage restriction. The fewer miles the scooter covers, the greater the saving. For example, a reduction in annual mileage of 3,000 miles could save a typical 35-year-old female rider about £50 a year in premiums. A cut of 1000 miles a year could save more than £100.

6. Don’t add a young, inexperienced rider to your policy, as it’s a false economy. The premium will still be calculated on the youngest rider and he or she will not have a no-claims bonus.

7. If you decide to change your scooter, check with your insurer if the model will have a significant effect on the premium. Sporty scooters can attract a high premium and often a slightly different model or smaller engine can make a big difference in your favour. It will also probably save you on petrol too!

8. If your garage is full of junk, clear it out and use it for your scooter. Aside from the benefit of not having to scrape the ice off in winter, there is a higher risk of theft by keeping the scooter on the road, so keeping it in the garage will be reflected in your premium.

9. Ride more carefully. We all know having accidents Join the Enhanced Rider Training Scheme or take an advanced riders’ course. Both offer discounts – up to 35% – from some of the major insurers.

10. Fitting an approved alarm, immobiliser or tracking device can attract a discount of around 5%.

You’ll enhance resale value and increase pride-of-ownership by maintaining the show-room appearance of your car, boat or motorcycle – and now the time and effort normally required has been cut dramatically. Simple to use and so effective it might just make the job fun (but we won’t tell anyone.) Use with or without your favorite polishing compound or wax; hand or machine-wash – air dry. One-year warranty and satisfaction guarantee.

Like the motorcycle the scooter has a long history as being a cheap way of having transportation. Even though the scooter has changed its design many times over the last 100 years it is basically the same as from the beginning. The idea for the scooter was to offer someone a economical way to travel while still having some level of comfort.

The scooter as we know it today can be attributed to the Vespa which was a scooter that was designed in Italy and became very popular all over the world in the 20th century. From the far east to Europe the scooter is know as the ideal means for transportation because it is cheap and east to park on narrow streets.

Yamaha and Honda also became big payers with the scooter in the late 20th century because the saw the demand that existed when we had our last gas crisis. They have cut into the American market greatly and account for a big percentage of the sales.

It is most important that when you purchase a new scooter that you look for the right kind of insurance that fits your needs. There is cheap insurance but it may not give you the coverage that you need. Make sure that the insurance that you get covers you in the event that you get into an accident and need someone to act on your behalf quickly.

Remember to look for an insurance that fits your needs and gives you the coverage so that in case anything happens you safe.

Harley Davidson motorcycles have enjoyed a steadily growing customer base for the last 20 years and have become one of the most popular motorcycles around. I would expect this trend only to continue as the Boomers retire and look for new ways to both entertain them and spend their accumulated wealth.

The first thing that most new Harley Davidson owners do is head out in search of that famous Harley Davidson “sound.” You know what I mean, nothing sounds as good as a nicely piped Harley Davidson purring down the road. The right pipe can turn heads from all directions so you want to make sure you get the right pipe that will suit your needs.

Like most motorcycle owners you want your pipes to look good, sound good and perform good. I have found a set of pipes that does that nicely and that is the Vance and Hines Big Shot Staggered pipes. Vance and Hines made their name in the superbike world but they have become a dominant player in both the Harley Davidson world and the “cruiser” bike market in general.

I have installed a number of Vance and Hines Harley Pipes on various bikes with the most recent being on my 2007 Harley Davidson FXSTB. The Vance and Hines pipes installed very easily and fit the bike well. The heat shields run a full 230 degrees around the pipe and will virtually guarantee that the pipes will give a lustrous chrome shine for many years to come.

The fit and finish of the pipes is great and the sound is awesome. These pipes are not for the faint hearted and if you want that awesome Harley Davidson sound then the Vance and Hines Big Shot Staggered pipes will deliver you an awesome exhaust note. I will say that they are one of the louder Harley Davidson pipes out there so you may want to find someone with a set already installed on their bike that you could listen to. If you crave that deep Harley thunder then these are the pipes for you.

If you want to find a great deal on a set of Vance and Hines Big Shot Staggered pipes or maybe check out some other brands of Harley Davidson pipes then check out the links. You can save a TON of money on your Harley pipes by shopping around.
